Vienna SubwayVienna Subway (Metro) systemPublic transport in Vienna is fast, reliable and safe. Arriving with the S7 train or the CAT from the airport, you will have to leave at Landstraße (Wien Mitte) and take the U4 to Karlsplatz. Subway is available from 5:00 in the morning until about 0:15 at night. Between 0:30 and 5:00 a night bus service is offered (same tickets valid). The official web site of Vienna’s public transport company is http://www.wienerlinien.at (German only). On http://www.vor.at/ you can enter any two addresses or locations in Vienna and search for the fastest connection by public transport (Press [go] on the top frame, German only). Tickets:Tickets are valid on all buses, trams, subway lines and S-Bahn trains within Vienna; tickets can be bought from machines in subway stations, major subway stations have counters as well (e.g. Karlsplatz, Schwedenplatz, Stephansplatz, Landstraße (Wien Mitte), Westbahnhof), open Mon - Fri, 6.30 to 18.30, and also in shops with the sign "Tabak Trafik" (i.e. tobacconist). Prices:single ticket, one way, changes allowed: € 1,50 (€ 2,- when bought inside a bus or tram) The map below shows the subway and S-Bahn system of Vienna, it does not show buses nor trams.
